Mulenga Mubanga is a Zambian multimedia artist whose work explores the deep connection between humanity and nature. Born in 1990 in Ndola, Copperbelt, he initially pursued a career in electrical engineering before following his passion for art. In 2013, he transitioned to the visual arts, studying at Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Sciences, where he earned a diploma. By 2016, he had expanded his practice into teaching art while continuing to develop his own artistic voice.
Throughout his career, Mulenga has participated in numerous art exhibitions across Zambia, including shows at Chena Gallery and ZADS (Zambian Art & Design Show). In 2021, he took part in an artist residency with Chena Gallery, further refining his craft. Now based in Avondale, Lusaka, he works full-time as a professional artist.
A true multimedia creator, Mulenga employs a diverse range of materials, including charcoal, graphite, acrylics, and collage. He sees art as a universal language—a transformative process that turns simple materials into objects of aesthetic and spiritual value. His work aims to not only be visually striking but also to evoke a deeper emotional and philosophical connection between the viewer, themselves, and their environment. Driven by an enduring fascination with the human figure, Mulenga’s art captures the strength, beauty, and harmony between people and the natural world, inviting audiences to reflect on their place within it.
