ыLusaka to Host AWAA 2024- Ceremony and Launch of Her

On February 28, 2025, Kalingalinga Hall in Lusaka, Zambia, hosted the African Women in Art Award (AWAA) 2024 ceremony, organized by Her Voice Foundation. The event brought together women artists from across Africa to recognize their contributions to the field of art.
This year's award focused on the theme “Mother Africa,” encouraging participants to explore African identity, cultural heritage, and the role of the continent in artistic expression. Winners and finalists were selected by an international jury from 36 applications representing 11 African countries. Awardees included artists from Nigeria, Zambia, Namibia, and Ethiopia, whose works incorporated traditional cultural elements with contemporary artistic approaches.
The ceremony recognized both emerging artists and established masters. Additionally, a Special Prize was introduced for artists whose works received commendation from the selection committee.
On the same day, the Her Voice Foundation Gallery was officially opened. This creative space aims to support artistic development, provide networking opportunities for women artists, and promote African women’s contributions to art.

The event was attended by the Nigerian Ambassador and a representative of the Zambian Ministry of Culture, Malilwe Siajunja, Principal Arts Development Officer, Chinyere Adamma Epelle, Acting High Commissioner, who expressed support for the advancement of women in the arts and cultural collaboration.
